This blog covers my part time attempt to ride a motorcycle around the world. The posts are organised roughly as:
July 2011 to December 2011 - Part 1 - Russia and Mongolia. These posts cover my trip from South Korea, into Russia through Vladivostok, and on westwards via Mongolia to the UK.
January 2014 -Bike Stolen - In January 2014 I planned to head from the UK (where the bike had been stored in my fathers garden) to Morocco and maybe further south for a month - but there was a hiccup - the day I was due to leave the UK the bike was stolen. Fortunately after a couple of weeks I got it back, but not in pristine condition, so in a fit of pique I cancelled the trip, when back to Australia to lick my wounds and earn some money.
May - June 2014 - After regaining my composure I went back to the UK in mid 2014, put the bike back together, and spent a month touring Ireland and the Isle of Man this time with my girlfriend on the back.

January - February 2015 - After some procrastination I decided 2015 had to be the year to do a long talked about trip up the length of Africa. To get myself ready I started with a short visit to Morocco in January - February.
August 2015 - June 2016 - Finally after much talking about it I'm doing it; a trip up the full length of Africa. I'm starting from Cape Town and the idea is to arrive in Egypt / Israel about 5 months later.
January - August 2018 - The next leg, the Americas Part 1. This part covers South America, starting in Santiago Chile followed by riding south to Ushaia before turning north and heading up the United States.
The Future - Hopefully in 2019 I finish the USA and move onto Canada and then into Alaska.
Martin,
ReplyDeleteHow did you manage the bike's admission in east africa? Did you have a carnet with you? Was it really necessary in which countries?
